This gorgeous traditional Japanese garment, known as a Uchikake Kimono, was originally purchased in the late 1940s by a family friend while she lived in Japan. The Uchikake Kimono is a ceremonial dress worn by Japanese women at their weddings, and may be worn with or without an Obi. This one comes with a large Obi in bright bold red, matching the trim and lining of the kimono. The long skirt of the kimono reaches past floor length to create a beautiful train behind the bride. The fabric is 100% fine Japanese silk, pale gold on the outside and primary red underneath. The exterior silk is intricately embroidered with Japanese fans and cranes in red and gold. The gold threads are metallic and shimmery, causing the kimono to sparkle as light reflects off of them.
This garment can be worn or displayed as art in your home or gallery!
This kimono has been stored carefully and is in excellent vintage condition. Japanese kimonos of similar age, quality and skilled craftsmanship can cost thousands of dollars.
